Hello, I am using a wireless adapter (TP-LINK TL-WDN4800) that has been great for almost a year now on my desktop. However, over the last few days, my PC begins fine, speedy internet as normal, and then after five minutes it crawls, almost to a stop.

Resetting my PC allows me to get another 5 minutes of decent internet speeds.

Does anyone have a CLUE what on earth is going?
PLease help!

Thanks in advance!

Your error is about your licensing for Windows. Which goes back to what I said. If you got your key form Microsoft Student Store, then follow the instructions there to download and as I said WIPE the computer with DBAN and start clean. Pirated Windows doesn't work, as your running into, it isn't just find a 'problem' your problem is your edition is pirated and needs to be wiped and put on with a legal legit copy and licensed.

And if your claim is legit, you can earn a reward by reporting the store to the BSA https://reporting.bsa.org/r/report/add.aspx?src=us&ln=en-us

Go to run and type in msconfig. Click on the startup tab and see what is starting up with your computer that may be causing the issue. You can from here disable certain programs from starting up with your computer. Once done reboot. You can also check the even viewer (go to run and type in eventvwr). Expand windows logs. Select Application and look for errors for more clues. You can also check the System logs.

I have these errors from event viewer:

resolution for the name _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.WORKGROUP timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded. (warning)

License Activation (slui.exe) failed with the following error code:
hr=0xC004F074
Command-line arguments:
RuleId=eeba1977-569e-4571-b639-7623d8bfecc0;Action=AutoActivate;AppId=55c92734-d682-4d71-983e-d6ec3f16059f;SkuId=c06b6981-d7fd-4a35-b7b4-054742b7af67;NotificationInterval=1440;Trigger=NetworkAvailable (error)

Any ideas?>

Is this a /torrent/ copy of Windows?

Try these basics:

Did you install all Windows Updates? Including OPTIONAL except BING? Check them and repeat till ALL are installed.

Download and run Slim Drivers, install all the latest updates but you don't need to reboot until you do the last update

Go to www.filehippo.com, download Malwarebytes, go to CUSTOM Scan and set it to do a full system scan (by DEFAULT IT DOESN"T DO THAT, and AntiVirus doesn't pick up alot of malware) - this resolved almost ALL other similiar posts to date as most had Malware the AV didn't pick up.

Remove whatever AV your using and download AVIRA, AVG, Comodo or Panda go to CUSTOM Scan and set it to do a full system scan (by DEFAULT IT DOESN"T DO THAT) - this repeatedly has resolved alot of people issue relying on MS Essentials.

Repeat the AV/Malware scans till the system comes up clean.

Download and run SPECCY, copy and paste the first tab to show your idle temps

Download AUTORUNS and turn off anything NOT critical on startup, so you don't need to run JAVAScheduler to check for Java updates everytime you start your computer for example. BE CAREFUL AND KNOW WHAT YOUR TURNING OFF BEFORE YOU DO IT.

It is a copy yeh, i bought an activation code though so activated it after the trial period when the pain in the arse watermark came up; is this a problem?
Otherwise ill try your other solutions too! thanks! - Oh and i use bullguard if that helps

Toms Hardware does not support PIRATED software. Your ONLY solution is to go to www.windows.com and following the steps there (if your activation code is authentic and not some stolen / pirate copy) to download a VALID copy of Windows. Download DBAN. Wipe your HDD clean and install a LEGIT LEGAL AUTHENTIC copy of Windows from scratch, else you will keep having many problems.

And BTW there is no 'TRIAL' period for Windows.

I thought the trial period was from when you install to the watermark appearing? The (i previously thought legit) PC shop that I got my windows from told me anyway ?

And no my activation code is 100% legit from microsofts own student store, so I guess thats not it!

I'll try windows update then a malware scan to see if they throw anything up?

Also is there anyway bullguard could be causing it ?

Oh and I'm a little insulted by you thinking my claim is false! ;) I am not a thief thank you; and I shall report them; I didn't even know such a thing existed!
