This one has me baffled.
I'm a recent convert to the glorious world of Intel. Coming from a rather stonking hot 8350 I was eager to finally be able to sell the 32 desk fans I had pointing at my face for sweat-busting purposes.
Alas, this 4790k seems to run fiendishly hot even before having a go at overclocking.
It's being cooled by a H80i, although the two fans sitting on the radiator are the SP120 Quiet ed's.
The backplate is mounted in the correct orientation. Thermal paste correctly applied. The block correctly tightened. Yet, at stock this processor hits 84c on the package temp after a single minute running Prime95 (Version 26.6 too).
Admittedly it's boosting up to its 4.4GHz and doing so sucking 1.270v but.... eh.
Here's a HWMonitor screen for reference:
Could do with some help on these temps. =/
