i know my rig isnt the best, not even close but for 1080p how long will my pc last for gaming , i dont mind knocking down settings so thats not an issue.

i5 3470
8gb hyper x black RAM
zotac gtx 970(stock)
rosewill hive 750 psu
Cheap Biostar MB that suits my needs.

i should mention i dont OC any of my components so keep that in mind.

Pretty much what numpty said: as long as you get performance you can be happy with using your current system, there is no point in worrying about it.

I have an i5-3470 and a HD5770. The HD5770 might be ancient by modern standards but I don't care much for eye candy (lots of it gets on my nerves and I would turn it off even if I had a better GPU) so I have no intention of upgrading it in the foreseeable future. Same goes for the CPU: mainstream CPU performance has been stagnating for years, so I do not expect to have a genuine itch to upgrade the CPU any time soon either.

I would not be surprised if the SB/IB/Haswell i5 remained relevant for 3-5 more years.
