I have a HP Dv6t-6B00 CTO entertainment laptop running Windows 7 Professional and had Trend Micro as the antivirus - after updating it yesterday it restarted and I couldnt get onto the internet. Found out the LAN/Wireless drivers were now missing, was able to reinstall them successfully and it sees the wireless network and will say "connected" but it also says "unidentified network" "no internet access". So I thought it might be a virus that was blocking the internet so I started running scans -

Ive run Malwarebytes, ADWcleaner, Trend Micro Internet Security Scan, TDSKiller, and I'm installing Avast right now to do a boot time scan

I've also released/renewed the ip address, flushed DNS, reset winsock - restarted a bunch of times

Oh and when trying to ping 8.8.8.8 it says general failure and media disconnected

Anyone have any other ideas??

Where did you download your driver from? If you got it from the HP website try to install the Microsoft driver. To do this go to your Device Manager > drop down your Network Adapters > Right click on the driver (either your LAN or Wifi) select "Update Driver Software" > Window should pop up and select "Browse my computer for driver software" and click next > now click on "Let me pick from a list of devices" ect. and click next > Now install the driver that has (Microsoft).
