im building a new machine and im looking at gpus. as far as i can tell, there is minimal difference in performance with the 2. so my question is, is it worth going for a 980 when i can buy a 780ti for 2/3 of the price?

Solution
if your gaming at 1080p then you should be just fine with the 780ti, but keep in mind it has 3gb of vram and some games use up more than that and will in the future. personally i would grab the 980 for the power saving, cool, 4gb vram, and the ability to say dude i have a 980....wow three responses since i was typing

The difference isn`t minimal and there are several advantages to the 980 like

-better efficiency
-lower temps
-lower noise (a bit)
-overall better fps in any game
-better OCing capability
-more ram (1gb) which is important for higher res
-you get cool new games in most packages
-better guarantee as it will be new versus used (probably)

oh yea. the highest ive seen a classified go is 1,651mhz which gives about a extra 10fps in games. not much, but its mostly for bragging rights.

Nice. I bet the K|NGP|N card can go higher.

10fps is still worth it in my opinion.
