Lenovo Z710 Eternal boot loop

I recently bought a Lenovo Z710 laptop brand new and it functions great, But I tried to expand my options and make it better. I purchased the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD and installed it and now the laptop boots in like 5 seconds, its magic.

Now the problem is that I cloned/copied the 1TB hard drive over to the SSD (Using Easeus) there isn't a whole lot of raw storage space on an SSD, so I bought a Z710 HDD Caddy. The copy process worked fine but when I plug in the 1tb hard drive into the caddy and insert it, things get funny.

The Laptop does not pick up the 1tb hard drive at all if the laptop is already in windows, and upon restarting the computer it receives an endless eternal boot loop. Shows the Lenovo logo and goes black, rinse and repeat

I can interrupt it and go into the bios but no setting Ive chosen can cause the laptop to function normally. If I remove the caddy everything becomes normal and boots fine

I tried forums that mention boot order options and updating BIOS, but I can't find a boot order that works and nothing changed when I updated my bios.

What am I missing?

Lenovo laptop
1TB hard drive - Was primary, now in Z710 HDD Caddy
250GB Solid state hard drive - Now the active primary OS drive
OS - Windows 8.1 64-bit
Bios - 7FCN96WW - originally 7FCN95WW
8GB RAM - Hoping to expand to 16GB soon
Intel(R) core i7-4710MQ CPU 2.50ghz
DirectX 11

Don't plug in the external caddy until Windows is up and running, I have to do that with all four of my externals otherwise system hangs at ASRock splash screen for around a minute. Nothing in my BIOS makes any difference, so I just make sure they are not plugged in on those rare occasions I actually boot my PC (after maintenance or returning from hols - - rest of time I only put it to sleep).

You don't understand, even if I wait to plug in the hdd caddy till after it boots into windows I doesn't come up. All that reads is empty, no cd rom unit installed or caddy installed. It doesn't register the drive so long as its in the caddy port, its weird

I feel really bad you have to do that with 4 externals lol

I'm having the same problem with the same laptop. I've just bought a 250 GB SANDISk SSD but when starting the laptop with both the old HDD and SSD installed the laptop keeps looping in the Lenovo logo. Windows starts just fine when I go into the boot manager using F12 and select Windows there, but I can't get it to start normally. It's like it can't choose what to boot from even when I've wiped the HDD clean using Hiren Boot CD.

Did you find a solution in the meantime?
