Need to replace my SAPPHIRE 100281SR Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 would like to know if the following cards would work or if someone has a recommendations for a work computer and light gaming I have a ASUS P6T7 WS SuperComputer mother bord with 7 PCI-E Gen2 x16 what I've looked at are Sapphire Radeon R9 280 3GB GDDR5 DVI-I/DVI-D/HDMI/DP Dual-X with PCI-Express Graphics Card Boost 11230-00-20G and Sapphire Radeon TOXIC R9 270X 2GB GDDR5 DVI-I/DVI-D/HDMI/DP with Boost (UEFI) PCI-Express Graphics Card 11217-02-40G does it mater if they are PCI Express 3.0 If the wont work correcty what do you recommend ? thanks for the help

PCI Gen 3 cards will work just fine a Gen 2 board, so really the choice is your budget and what you would like to put in your case.

It wont matter, the size of the card and the Gen of the PCI-e don't depend on each other at any impactful level. You should be just fine.
