Can a CPU with bent pins damage my motherboard?

I was removing my FX-8320 from the motherboard and when I removed my heatsink the CPU stuck to the bottom. Somehow I bumped the CPU and bent a few pins on the side. I bent them back and installed it in my new motherboard. Could this do damage to my new motherboard?

I mean if they are pretty straight down, then it should go in fine, if they are going to miss the holes, it may break the socket if you use great force. The real problem here is if your CPu is still going to work. Set them straight as you can, and put it in the socket gently, if it doesnt fit by dropping it in, dont push down, and try to tweak it. As long as you arent pushing down hard there is really no danger to your board.

The only way this could really damage your motherboard, is if a pin managed to completely break off when putting it back in. (Creating a short)

If they just simply bent, and you flexed them back and reinserted you will be fine. They're more or less simply electrical contacts, I have even heard of cases where they have completely broken off into the board, but with good alignment the CPU was dropped in and functioned fine still.

Sure thing, did you get it to work?

Yes it worked. I bent the pins back with the tip of a mechanical pencil. Removed the lead from it and used that.
