Hello all,

I recently built a computer using an AMD A10-5800K and I've been having some problems with temperature readings. I didn't check the temperature on the stock heatsink before I installed the Logisys Ice Wind Pro heatsink with an additional 120mm fan. I got a new case from a friend today with much better airflow, 4 92mm fans, 2 exhaust, 1 front intake, 1 side intake. I also received my new syringe of Arctic Silver compound. I applied the new compound and re-installed the heatsink. I have properly installed a heatsink before so this isn't new to me. Specify reports a minimum of 45°C on idle and 70°C. AMD Overdrive reports 70°C. Both of these have been the normal readings. I ran both in the same boot session and the two swapped temperatures. I've lowered voltage and clock speeds and nothing changed. CoreTemp reads 0. I've felt the heatsink and it was cool. What should I do?

Download and use AMD Overdrive. Under the cpu section click on the "Thermal Margin" tab. Forget about using any third party utilities for the APU's. They only work well with FX cpu's not with the APU's. Read Damric's sticky.

I have a somewhat opposite issue. My 6800k is never reported as going above ~38C in windows even when transcoding using plex, ie 100% CPU utilization for like an hour straight. The problem I have is that my fans never ramp up and I think it causes instability issues. Any advice?

AMD Overdrive doesn't appear to let me control the fans, they are greyed out on mine.

You should set the fan profiles in the BIOS.
