Hi all, I am trying to install an extra 32GB RAM to my workstation. The module are of the same make and as far as I can see same type Crucial Ballistix DDR3 -1600 CL9@1.5v. However the BIOS reports the 4 new modules as Abnormal. The original modules were installed in slots A1 A2 B1 B2 so I just filled the remaining slots with the new modules. I have tried XMP profile and the default profile to no avail. Has anyone anything to suggest?

Hello,

You will need to populate all channels to take advantage of the 4-channel memory configuration. If your original kit is also a 32 GB one, do what alexoiu said. If the original kit is a 16 GB one, you must move the old kit in the A2, B2, C2, D2 slots, and the new kit in A1, B1, C1, D1...

I'l try what alexoiu has suggested, as soon as I'm finished with this photogrammetry processing stage the machine is currently doing. To iterate... 4 existing modules (4 x 8GB) in A1 A2 B1 B2 and if I move these to A2 B2 C2 D2 and the new ones (4 x 8G to give me a total of 64GB) to A1 B1 C1 D1 and give that a go. The current BIOS version is 4302 and I was going to update to 4801, do you think this is necessary?

Guys, thanks for all help and possible solutions, I have it all working now and thanks goes out to Cristi72 as this was how it finished up. Old set to A2 B2 C2 & D2 and the new set into A1 B1 C1 & D1. Alls good now, thanks.
