Hello, I am looking to make a Hackintosh (as it has been dubbed) in order to get into programming apps. I have build this on PC part picker, and I am hoping someone could let me know if they see any compatibility issues. Thanks

Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
ASRock H81 Pro BTC ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Corsair SPEC-01 RED ATX Mid Tower Case
Corsair CSM 450W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

Let me know what you think.

Hi,

That build looks sweet. If the budget allows, I would rather go with Gigabyte GA-H97M-D3H. It's only U$19 but you have 4 ram slots, better audio chipset, better LAN chipset, materials, etc. Also search for "Gigabyte GA-H97M-D3H hackintosh" and you will see there is a lot of people that have already built a Hackintosh with no problems. (There are some guides with that motherboard).

I would only change that if you can afford the difference. The whole setup looks pretty solid and it should work with no problems.

Hello mate,
The overall build looks fine, however you can tune some things.
1) If you are buying an "overclockable" CPU like the i5 4690K (I have it), you can't buy a H81 MB. First, it's a quite old chipset and you can't overclock. You must get a Z97 motherboard. If not, just get the Non-K version and buy a H91 MB.
2) Hackintosh builds seem to work better with Gigabyte motherboards, or Asus. I would take a look at Z97 Motherboards from Gigabyte - They should work with no issues-.
3) Are you planning to get a GPU? Maybe a cheap dedicated graphics card would be cool.
4) If the budget allows, an SSD would be nice

Feel free to ask, and remember, Tonymacx86 has a lot of information!

Thank you for your response!

I have a PC that I built for gaming, so this hackintosh would be used for normal stuff, and mild app programming. So overclocking and dedicated graphics cards arent a must. Taking your advice, this is what I came up with. The best part is that it is still cheap haha.
