Hello! Hope everyone is having a good day!

I want to buy a cheap tablet that I will just use for typing. I have thoughts in my head 24/7 and I just want something portable to type on.

I live outside so I would like a quality screen, that looks good when I'm outside and inside.

And a good keyboard that has a nice "feel" and works at a proper pace.

This would only be used for typing. So I don't care whatsoever about any other features. I'll just be using excel and word on it.

Thanks

that is true. but on the other hand, if you get a 2in1 device, the keyboard/dock doubles as a stand (which is helpful, because you don't need to hold your tablet and/or find a place to put it against) :D

asus transformer or acer aspire switch. the first can sometimes have a extra battery hidden in the dock, the other an extra 500GB drive - so it's really up to your preferences...

ps: if you get the later one, the first thing you should do is remove acer user experience improvement crap and the mcaffee antivirus /you can use comodo firewall and avast as a substitution/. doing that will free a substantial amount of ram.

A good tablet for typing is like a good compact economy car for 8 people.
Doing a moderately large amount of typing on a tablet will be slow and uncomfortable.

For typing any large quantity of things you either want a laptop or at least a tablet plus Bluetooth keyboard.

Only suggestion I can make for you is to get a Lenovo yoga that can be tablet and laptop.

yep, that's why i recommended those two 2in1 devices. they already have docks with keyboards and the trick is, that dock often pack a extra feature.
the asus line-up often comes with extra battery, which is good, when you're travelling and don't have access to power outlet for more than 10 hours.
the acer can have an extra hard drive, which is good if you need to move large files. 500gb extra space on a 32/64 gb device can make a difference.
but it all depends on a model you get, as they often wary in screen resolution, amount of storage and a dock version.

I was looking at the transformer series but ended up spending the money on a yoga 2 pro, they had a web special price on the i7/8gb ram/256 gb ssd and 7260 AC wifi for $900.

Wasn't sure how much I would use the tablet mode but I find myself doing that for web browsing a lot.

Thanks for the input guys!

I disagree with boosted1g though. I've used average tablets in the past and found that typing large amounts is perfectly fine on them. But that's just me. Everyone is different.

And yeah, I completely forgot about the battery! That's very, very important for me. If I'm sitting outside for 10 hours reading a book and typing, I don't want to have to worry about battery life. Are there any tablets that are over the 10 hour mark of battery life? I would like to have a huge battery, so I wouldn't have to think about it in the back of my mind, if I'm outside for a long period of time.

the asus transformer series is known to hold up fo 8-11 hours, depending on a scenario.
but you should also look for a dock with an integrated battery, as it usually adds another 3-4 hours uptime. also the comfort of typing on an actual keyboard and having a touchpad is priceless :D
