I really need a raid controller

OK. So my motherboard is TBGM01-1.0-8EKS3H
It's from a FX6800-01e

I want to RAID5, four 5TB Toshiba hard drives.
AND I need to RAID0 four 256GB Corsaid Neutron SSD's.
All in the same computer, same motherboard.

Problem is, I have the 2 PCIe slots taken up by two 7950's in crossfire.
But I have a couple smaller "pci" slots left. One is shorter than the other. (see motherboard)

So how can I get this to work? I have no idea how RAID controllers work, or which one I should buy, and if it's compatible with my motherboard or not.

ONE MORE THING! All of my drives are SATA III, but my motherboard is SATA II. Since I'll be using a raid controller, is it possible to get SATA III speeds, because it's thorugh the PCI lane and not the on-board SATA controller?

Thanks very much.

This isnt going to happen on that motherbd.
That raid controller you need will be an x8 board that fits into an x16 slot.

Mind if I ask why you want raid?
With twin 7950's I assume you are a gamer and raid5 isnt going to improve your gaming experience at all imo. Too many random small files and raid 5 isnt really good at that. If you are video editing then raid5 can be decent with sequential data.

Yeah I game. That's why I want to RAID0 on my 4 SSD's.
But I also intend to use it as a server, with the 4 HDD's in RAID5 (or possibly on-board, not sure yet)

I just want to avoid using the on-board SATA, but I might end up needing to...

So you're saying there's no raid controller that fits into the smaller pci slots? Nothing?

With 4 ssd's in a raid 0 you are looking at 2000+ MB/s sequential transfer speeds so you're looking at 5 pcie lanes to not bottleneck just that.

while you can fine raid cards for pciex4 they wont have 8 drive support on them. They will also likely be software raid and you dont want that for raid5 (motherbd raid is also software raid btw)

Okay, yeah I see what you're saying.

Then is there a expansion card that I can get that will add 4 SATA/eSATA ports in the back? Do you know what I mean?
