So recently i got a Seagate Barracuda 500gb and i noticed that its making these really loud noises, something like the ringing in the ear after an explosion,i searched for a solution and tried updating the firmware,i download the windows firmware(http://knowledge.seagate.com/articles/en_US/FAQ/213891en) i start the setup the pc shuts off(as it should)the set up starts, software recognizes my hard drive but when it should updating it gives me an error saying that something is not matching...So i need help,am i using the right firmware? Is there a solution to this loud and annoying continious noise? HArd drive serial:W3T9F1WC model:ST500M002-1BD142 current firmware is KC48

Hi there GrillZone123,

I don't really think you need to update the firmware of an internal HDD.
Do you have any other issues with the drive except for this noise? It is possible that this is the noise of the HDD just operating.
You can check whether there is something wrong with the drive if you test it with some brand specific HDD testing tool. In case the results show something abnormal, back up the data stored on in and RMA it eventually.

I don't think the ringing noise is from the drive and if it is, it may be a defect in the drive. I've never hear a drive make a ringing noise, other less pleasant sounds but no ringing. Are you sure you're not overloading your power supply?

I dont think it is the power supply because the noise started when i plugged in the new hard drive, and when i press my ear against the power supply i just hear the fan blowing, while on the other hand the hard drive is making those annoying noises, again something like a flashbang in a video game or a really quiet dentists drill...its wierd :(
