I have ordered every part of my PC except for one thing, the memory. Surprisingly, this has been the main part that I have been debating the most, and I have come to a conclusion that I want 8 gigabytes of 1866 mhz RAM. A problem is that I have ordered a Noctua NH D15 CPU cooler, which does not allow much clearance for the RAM. Many of the lower profile 1866 mhz options come in at a much higher price point than I am willing to spend, which is around $70. An option I have come across is Kingston Hyperx Fury Black RAM, but this has a CAS 10 rating. I have heard that this RAM automatically clocks itself to CAS 9, but I am not sure if this is true. If anyone could confirm that this RAM clocks itself to CAS 9 or has any other recommendations, please feel free to answer. Thank you so much!!

see pcpartpicker and filter by feedback, price, height...

CAS9 vs CAS10 for 1866MHz is not that significant in real-world usage.

If it's rated for CAS10 then that's what you get unless you try forcing it which can cause instability and not recommended.

*NH-D15 clearance suggested is 32mm, however it's very easy to RAISE THE FAN so your main limitation is where you'd hit the CASE with the top of the fan.

So check the CASE for supported CPU cooler height then subtract 165mm (D15 height) from that which probably will gain a few mm's.

Filter down your list of suitable memory then check the HEIGHTS for those at the manufacturer site.

The ARES kit linked above is 33mm so should work perfectly if you raise the fan about 2mm.
