i am trying to play farm simulator 15 and when i try to load the game is says that shader model 3.0 is required what can i do to update that can i download the shader model 3.0 or do i have to buy a bigger graphics card

you have to buy a newer gpu.what card is in your pc now and your pc parts. video cards over the years have changed slots from the older agp to the newer pci and we cant point you to a non costly upgrade till we know your pc parts.

the tower is only 2-3 years old and has only the basics for graphics chip it does however have a AMD(TM) II X2 220 2.80 GHZ processor

The shader is a function of the graphics system. You need a new, better, GPU.
