What are the operating voltage tolerances that a desk fan of this type can handle?
Could it run on 7.5v if i raise the voltage from 5v to 6v to 6.5v to 7v to 7.5v in increments safely?

Its a PC-fan type motor with a small desk/table fan fan blades for cooling the person off

i was wondering if it could tolerate a little more juice because just 5v doesn't really cut it sometimes
so could tolerate a little bit more power? maybe up to 7.5v from my adjustable power supply? its got a simple switch on it with multiple positions for the different voltages. from 3v to 7.5v in mutiple increments

Solution
Hi
The only real way to know would be to try it.
The concern is the fan motor temperature,if you can feel how warm the motor gets running at 5V then increase the voltage to 6V and see if the temperature has increased after running it for a while.
If the temperature is still ok then you can increase the voltage to the next increment and try again.

ok ive tested and it seems to get pretty warm to where i can feel it if i run it for 15 minutes at 7.5v and i slowly raise it from 5v up so it doesnt have to work hard from the beginning
it doesnt emit any kind of smell or "heat" smell that i can tell but my room is pretty cold today so it seems to run okay i have decreased the current so it doesnt have to do more than it needs to

I'm worried about the circuitry of the fan because i have a feeling the windings can definitally take the power (they're quite beefy when i look at them. thick long wires)
so im worried that the circuitry like diodes resistors and IC-chips/transistors might not like the higher voltage. how should i go about checking that?
