What to use good processor for?

I know this one is a weird question, but i just recieved an Intel Core i7 4790k and none of my current games either utilizes all of the 8 virtual cores or pushes the processor even slightly. Is there something i can do do use all of the powaah to "boost" performance in games?

Sell it and buy an i5 4690k. Put the rest in your bank account.

You can't really. What you need is either a monstrous graphics subsystem (980s in SLI or something) and push everything to maximum settings, but generally games aren't coded for CPUs that powerful and can't really use it.

Perhaps if you'd take up chess and use your computer to analyze games then that CPU can be pushed to its limits, but other than that, I don't really know modern games that could use that much power.

Well, i got it for my birthday along with a few other things, so selling it isn't really something i would do. Do you guys think more games will use more cores in the near future?

Then just keep it mate. Its a great cpu. And yes, even now, games like GTA 5 are using more than 4 cores.

Theres nothing wrong with having more than enough performance.
I wouldnt purchase the i7 over an i5 for gaming, however since you received it I would roll with it.
