Hey guys, I'm a noob, and i am building my first PC. I've decided on a black and red color scheme, so I can use MSI GPUs. I have started to buy parts when I see good deals, but have yet to make a commitment to the big ticket items, the CPU, the GPU, and the mobo.
What I have so far:
1. 3 Rose will 140mm red led case fans
2. 8gb of 1600mgz ddr3 ram.
3. A corsaire cx 600w semimodular power supply.
4. Fractal design define r4.

What Im thinking for the rest.

GPU, MSI r9 290.
I want to be capable of playing games on max settings at 1080p, and this one goes with the color scheme, and the twin frozr 4 has great reviews generally. Also, 4gb of vram is a lot, but I want to be future proof a little, and i might crossfire in the future for 4k.

CPU, fx 6300.
This cpu seems adequate enough, the only question I have, is will this bottleneck? I want to put a high end air coller on it, and overclock, i but don't have the money right now.

Mobo, MSI 970 gaming.
This mobo also goes with the red and black color scheme, and it supports overclocking as well as crossfire at a reasonable price.

Any thoughts and/or comments would be awesome. Thanks.

Well, BF4 would likely see a little increase, especially if you want to do something like streaming as well. But yes, most games won't see a major increase enough. I'm really just focusing on that one game. Your choice of the FX6300 is a good one in your price range, I was offering suggestions if you had extra cash lying around.

I'm mostly going to be playing bf, along wirh minecraft, titanfall, and maybe skyrim and/or the witcher 3 a little bit. I really like the MSI series cards, and Im a little ocd, so I'm pretty set on red and black. I have seen that card and considerd it though.

This might be a stupid question, but I read somewhere that the speed of a processor is dived over all the cores, so as a gaming PC, you want lower cores so the ones you have are faster seeing that games don't use more than 4 cores. The CPUs have the same speed, just different number of cores.

Okay, thanks. I still don't see the point of upgrading, I probably can't anyway, but I want to learn. If games only use 4 cores, why get 8 vs 6 if those 4 cores are going to he the same speed?

I'm not planning on streaming, so i think im going to stick with the 6300 seeing that my original budget was 600 which has been well surpassed with the help of a 290. Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.
