Very Loud Hard Drive

I recently built the custom PC located here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/6np9Q7. It has been working quite well and I haven't noticed any real problems. However, the WD Blue drive has been acting kind of weird. For the most part, even when booting up the system, it is very quiet, as to be expected for a brand new HDD. However, sometimes when I'm not doing anything at all, like just sitting at the desktop, or scrolling through a web page in Chrome, the drive will be VERY loud for a roughly 10 second period of time. Like I'm not joking, it sounds like an old IDE drive. Considering how quiet it usually is when doing large tasks like loading games and the OS and stuff like that, it has me a little concerned. Should I be worried? I have never had this happen with my laptop hard drives or any other computers in general. If this is a stupid question I'm sorry, I'm just a little paranoid. Thanks for any responses.

Solution
Hard Drives should never be very loud.

Copy any data off it you don't want to lose.

Download, install and run WD Lifeguard diagnostics software - long test - to see if its faulty. Talk to WD about RMAing it.

^^ Agreed. I have a WD Black which is the 'high performance' drive and it's pretty silent. Granted, sometimes the drive will make noise during some heavy file work, since it is mechanical and the drive head is moving back and forth rather quickly, but nothing like a death rattle type of sound.

Keep Task manager running on your desktop ... Use View / Display columns to ass I/O Reads and I/O writes and click on one of them to put the moist active programs at the top of the list

"Loud" is different things to different people. To me, if i know that it's on because I can hear something (anything) , I'm annoyed.

The black was long known for its hi noise level compared to other derives ... see the THG noise chart link below.... it's way at the top.

When you hear this noise....look at TM and see what program is doing the reads /writes

I miss the ole days when THG put sound level in the charts .... but some manufacturers pay more attention to this than others
