I'm looking for a desk that's under $150 that is good for gaming on the PC any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated (min length 45x23 corner or straight desk preferred)

i'd look for freebies you can get from store closings, stores upgrading their displays. clothing or display tables can make great desks with a little cleaning up. i got a 7ft wide table (click build in my sig if you wanted to see a photo) for $0 and just cosmetically upgrading it with a formica top ($30). cant beat that.

try auctions. there are furniture specific auctions as well as generalized auctions out there. $150 is quite a bit of spending power at auction and you can buy a desk worth $400 for that kind of money. you might have just a few little scuffs (though some look almost brand new) but i've seen some very nice stuff for sale. in fact, i saw some nice rolling desks go for $5 each which sort of looked like http://image.melodyhome.com/images/upload/Convenient%20Rolling%20Laptop%20Table%20Design1.jpg but with some shelves above as well. in superb condition too.

there are furniture resellers out there who recycle (resell) used furniture. you can sometimes nab a fair deal on some nice but used desks.

if you want brand new and only will accept brand new then your options for $150 are a little limited.

the first is to just build a corner desk yourself. honestly a piece of plywood cut to shape and two horizontal braces screwed into the walls provides a very nice corner desk that can also look quite nice as well. this does not take much skill. with a bit more work you can even make one with legs which looks rather nice.

if building your own is not an option then you're going to be stuck with either A) flakeboard models or B) glass & steel models. you can often find them at your local staples, walmart and other office supply store or online (though shipping would then be a concern).

generally i do advise against flakeboard as the hardware is not very secure in them (they can become loose and wobbly with time) and that they are not great in terms of wear (the stick on veneer can wear, peel and bubble) and if they get wet you have a big problem (it will expand and soak up moisture). this is not to say that they do not work (they can) but that they are not nearly as nice as real wood or metal construction desks.
