Hey guys, last month I started GTAV and was playing on the following rig:
GTX-970 FTW+, I7-4770, 8 GB RAM, H87 mobo.
I was getting lower than expected fps, so I decided it was time to upgrade my rig to the following:
GTX-970 FTW+ SLI, I7-4770, 8 GB RAM, EVGA Z-87 Classified, Crucial SSD.
I did a clean install on windows, and fired up GTAV for the first time tonight.
I'm getting even LOWER fps. Before I was getting dips down to 38 fps or so on ultra running around 50-55 fps. Now I'm getting dips down to 35 and running around 50 fps.

Yes, all my SLI is set up correctly, because I benchmarked it on Valley. While playing, my GPU usage on both cards doesn't exceed 60%, and my CPU cores rarely exceed 20% usage. I really don't know where to go from here to troubleshoot.

Graphics settings are Nvidia experience recommended settings. Everything pretty much maxed w/ Vsync on. Any ideas?

Well, looks like I found my answer. GTAV simply eats the VRAM of the 970 up. Can't use advanced distance scaling. Looks like I made a mistake thinking the 3.5 GB would be enough for the next few years. Shoulda went with 8 GB R9 290x's I guess....

I'm having similar issues with GTA V specifically. I have the same GPU setup. My performance was amazing not too long ago with SLI so I think the new driver may have caused issues. I was getting 60 fps on ultra even with distance scaling and shadows on full at 1440! I was getting dips to maybe 50-55 but overall it was perfect. Then after a few driver updates (I've made no other change to my PC) performance has fell into the gutter.

If you find a solution let me know. Hopefully it's a driver issue though because right now on ultra I'm getting 19 fps where previously I was getting 50-60.

By the way every other game is running perfectly including the amazing looking Witcher 3 (that's on ultra, hairworks on full at 1440, solid 60 fps) so maybe they made a change to the GTA SLI profile?
