My CPU is getting really hot suddenly and this never happened before.

So before this issue I recently got a Cooler Master Hyper212 EVO heatsink and it's great. It kept my cpu at a really good temp, but now, out of nowhere, my CPU is getting REALLY hot and I don't know what's causing this. It overheated and just shut off abruptly and I let it cool down to the pouint where the case is cool to the touch, turned it back on, and played a csgo match while monitering my CPU temps with AMD Overdrive on my second moniter. The thermal margain was over 20 at all times which is more than good enough, but after 5 minutes of playing the case was again, REALLY hot to the touch where my CPU is. So that means AMD Overdrive is telling me false information about the temps along with any other temp reader. Why is my CPU getting so hot and why are programs still telling me the temps it was before and what it definitely isn't at?

Have you checked to make sure the fans are not clogged and spin freely? if they got clogged or broke and wont spin anymore it would explain the sudden overheating issue. Otherwise the only thing I can think of is some hardware issue that occurred (small short somewhere, burnt resistor/capacitor) that's causing it to heat up...

I've also seen it before where software shows incorrect temperatures... it happens for reasons not entirely clear to me... usually the temperature readouts in the bios are correct its just that you cant load the cpu when your in the bios... Sometimes other temp monitoring software will show the correct temperature... try different programs and see..

Be sure to check all the fans!

I have since fixed my issue a few days after this post. Someone suggested I redo the thermal paste and dust my entire PC with an air duster. That more than did the job and now I get really good temperatures under heavy load (45-50). I also got 2 new 120mm fans to help with the cooling. Thanks for the help though.
