So my PC for 8 years finally broke down and I need some help picking out parts for a new one. I have a budget of 20k pesos for the build. (including the monitor) I searched for some references since I'm not so tech savvy and I found these rigs worth an estimated 20k each.

Intel Rig

  • Processor: Intel Pentium G3258 2-Core Anniversary Edition Php3,300
    GPU: Palit Geforce GTX 750 StormX OC 1G GDDR5 128Bit Php5,200
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H81M-DS2 Php2,500
    RAM: G.skill Ares 8gb (2x4gb) DDR3 1333 CL9 Php3,800
HDD: Western Digital Cavalier Blue 500gb Php2,200
Casing: Aerocool GT Black Gaming Php1,200
    PSU: Â EVGA 500B 500W 80Plus Bronze Power Supply Php1,950

    Total: Php20,150

AMD Rig

  • Processor: AMD Vishera FX-4300 4-Core 3.8Ghz Php4,950
    GPU: Sapphire R7-250X 1GB DDR5 Php4,300
    Motherboard: ASRock 960GC-GS FX Php2,400
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB Single 1600 Php3,500
HDD: Western Digital Cavalier Blue 500gb Php2,200
Casing: Aerocool GT Black Gaming Php1,200
    PSU: EVGA 500B 500W 80Plus Bronze Power Supply Php1,950

    Total: Php20,500

Just want some people's opinions on these. Are either of them optimal rigs and if so, which one? If not, could someone list an optimal rig for me? Thanks in advance!

I would go for the AMD RIG its way cheaper to upgrade to the highest tear CPU for that socket 100 USD for a 4 core w/ hyper threading with the intel it will cost more 350 USD for a I7 4 core with hyper threading but they are more power full. Now thats not all because CPU power doesn't effect gaming performance as much as GPU does. I just built a rig for 1200 USD with the Pentium that maxed out BT4 at a average of 60fps but low 40s in heavy fire. I used a 960 from Nvidia Which is 200 USD but it performed very well.

your wrong bud the intel one is way better and has a way better gpu and a 4 core 8 thread cpu isnt 350 as you say it is 241$ and is worth every penny for the performance you get from it

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($241.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $241.99

and you got a pretty bad pc for 1200 for going with a pentium a i5 and a h97 board would have been a better choice in that budget range

i dont want to be mean but you sound so dumb with xeon are not for gaming just cause you say it doesn't make it true and fyi my build includes a xeon cpu i mentioned and can very well play everything maxed out and i know a 750 is a better card which is why i said go with the intel build, the cpu in it is way better than the fx too and should get better performance for the money

and i7 are around the 300 price mar, but 4 core 8 thread cpus are not you even forget what you wrote proves you have no idea what you are talking about

upgrading on a intel build is gonna cost exactly the same as a amd build and more you just haven't relised that with the intel build he would just need to buy a i5 4460 to upgrade, but for amd the fx 6300 isnt worth getting too close in price to fx 8350 which is the higher tier cpu from amd, do you know what it takes to tame this beast a hyper 212 sure as hell isn't gonna do it and the motherboard is outdated and needs more power phases which will cost alot more than just going with a i5 you can see a 60$plus for the cooler and 80-120$ more for another motherboard

yet the i5 4460 doesnt need a aftermarket cooler to stay cool or another motherboard

So I'm leaning more towards the intel build, but I have a few questions. How does the Intel G3258 compare to other processors in power? How much more would an I5 or I7 cost over it? Also, can this build run modern games like Shadow of Mordor and Watchdogs?

a i5 will cost about 110-120 more than the pentium and the build will be able to play newer games at very low settings (will look like crap) i would jump towards better cpu instead of spending on a pentium cpu g3258 doesnt use much power if over clocked

yep a i5 4460 is a whole ton better than a petium you will know the difference one you have it it is blazing fast and run modern games easy if you have a decent gpu

I see. Thanks! I'll try for an I5 if I can squeeze more money into the budget. Would a GTX 750 be considered a decent gpu or should I just upgrade to a better one once I get some money?
