Hey guys,

My PC (new in around August 2014) crashes when playing the following games:

BF Hardline
Assetto Corsa
Project Cars

The type of crash is exactly the same for all games. First the picture freezes. The sound continues (not frozen) but after a few seconds the sound freezes as well. I can usually ALT-CNTRL-DELETE and get to the task manager but I cannot see it... BF Hardline just goes straight back to windows..

My PC Specs are:

- Windows 8.1
- Intel Xeon E3-1231 @ 3.40ghz
- 16gb Ram
- 64 bit OS
- AMD Radeon R9 200 Series

I have tried reinstalling Direct X but it did not fix it.

It never used to do this, only with the recently launched games.

Solution
try this .
go to C:\Program Files (x86)\MSI Afterburner

And edit the MSIAfterburner.cfg

And scroll down and make sure these are the values
Quote:
UnofficialOverclockingEULA = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
UnofficialOverclockingMode = 1

save it and try changing voltage

Anyways i would do a full driver reinstall.

Okay so all I can see is that it's a AMD R9 200 Series with a device ID of 6798... memory size is 3072mb, core clock speed is 1020mhz... memory clock is 1500 mhz.

Do the following. It fixed that problem for most users. You need to downclock your card a bit.

1. Install MSI afterburner

2. Unlock the voltage

3. Clock Settings:

4. in settings be sure to tick force voltage.

5. Have a aggressive fan curve. Mine start at 50% and is at a 45 degree curve from there

6. Disable any and all auto power savers in windows and bios.

If those settings still cause crashes then try these
unlock voltage control,
select force constant voltage,
set core volt 1100,
power limit +20,
core clock 1000,
memory clock 1400
And save that as profile 1 then every time you run games that cause crash you need to run msi afterburner first and load your saved profile 1

In that case just keep it as it is and report what happens
