Hi there,

I used a Samsung external USB to take files from a PC with the aim of then putting them back onto the mac.

When i plugged the Samsung hardrive into the PC it came up fine and the transfer of files didn't seem to be a problem. Now, having tried to plug it back into the mac to access the files, it doesn't recognise the Samsung hardrive at all. It's nowhere to be found on the mac. Same with the PC it doesn't work on there, either.

Any knowledge or help greatly appreciated.
Thank you in adavance.

Hey there, jambri13!

It seems like your file system has become corrupted from the switch of the operating systems. I'd suggest you to check if the drive shows up in the Disk Utility (on your Mac) or in Disk Management on your Windows PC. If it is recognized in Disk Management for example, can you please share how it appears there?
I hope you have a backup of the data that was on the external drive, because you might need to re-format it if the issue is with the file system. I'd recommend using exFAT/FAT32 as a file system, since it will let you read/write from both Windows OS and Mac OS X. However, there are some limitations that come with this particular file system. You can check them here...

Let me know if the drive is recognized by those OS utilities though!
