hi dear folks!

i just purchase an ASUS essentio CM6870, works fine and it can works with its core i7 3770 and also with my i5 3570 and 2500k with no issues presented.

but it has an OEM locked motherboard. It usses a P8 H77-m pro/CM6870 which is the same as the retail version with some features left (phisical stuff some ports and the mosfet heatsink). it would be nice tu use the lastest BIOS from the retail P8 H77-m pro since it has some updates even in this year and the EOM has not been updated since so much and is also locked. is it possible??

thanks :)

Consider this thought:
If turning an OEM locked motherboard into an unlocked one with a simple BIOS flash, you would be able to find many people who have already done it successfully.

Have you found any results like that?
A valid 'result' only counts if it is "Yes, I did it and it works". Not "Yes, it should work."

You have 3 possible outcomes:
It works great and that OEM board is unlocked
It changes nothing
It bricks your motherboard.

Well, it's only been an hour or so. But no one giving up a verified result is telling.
Yes, do ask in the ASUS forums. Or ask ASUS support.

Even if trying it, with the current BIOS chip, nothing wrong can happen. The BIOS simply will not recognize the version as valid and will not update. You can use only BIOS versions from the CM6870 download page. It's ASUS policy. for warranty reasons.
Now, if wanting to overpass this situation, you'd have to order a BIOS chip on ebay and replace the board's one.
