Does anyone if the new r9 300 series of graphic cards will crossfire on older motherboards?

sorry if this is a really nooby question but im quite new to all of this so i wondering if it will.

My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-797P-D3.

it will if the motherboard supports crossfire. look in your manual or google it, i cant find anything for Gigabyte GA-797P-D3. did you mean GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3? if so then no, it will not support crossfire or sli.
