I've been checking this forum for quite some time hoping I can find a solution for my problem but so far I haven't so I decided to post my issue in full detail.

Around September, according to my updates history September 29th 2014, I woke up and turned my PC on, it originally had Window 8 installed and I kept getting pop-ups from Windows letting me know that the Windows 8.1 update was available to download free of charge in the store. I originally ignored it mainly because I had read on this website that a lot of people were getting errors during their installation, whether it was docking stations, USB issues, driver issues, issues with multiple monitors, etc. And I didn't really want to risk having to reinstall Windows assuming my installation had an issue. That day, when I came back to my desk my computer let me know that Windows 8.1 had finished downloading and I was prompted to restart so the installation could take place, I didn't really choose to update so it was basically forced upon me, looking over the internet I found out that this update included Windows 8.1 Update so it was basically forced on a lot of users.

Ever since then my Windows Update hasn't really given me anything to download and when I turn my computer off I never see the "Install updates and shutdown" option anymore whereas before, I could. In fact I'd regularly look for updates myself, nowadays whenever I tell Windows Update to scan for updates it just sits there "looking" for updates and I've seriously let it sit for a course of little over 8 hours only to notice that nothing pops up. I've been having to check the MS support websites to install updates myself.

Checking my history there is this one particular update that I downloaded and didn't install and that is update 3000850 which according to the website it says is the November 2014 update and that the prerequisite to install is to have update 2919355 which I have installed yet for some reason it doesn't install.

I just finished dowing a sfc /sccannow running as admin and the result came clean, I've just disabled my Avast and turned on Windows Defender just to see if any updates have popped up yet so far nothing and now I think my computer is starting to take this in an unpleasant manner (acting slow at times, random framerate drops during games, laggy cursor at times, etc.) so I'd really like to get my Windows Update working again.

I know this is a long thread but any sort of help will be GREATLY appreciated!

if i was you i would turn off windows update in prosseses and then clean out the windows update folder then reboot see if there a bad or failed update issue. if not try and install the missing update from microsoft. a lot of times if it not a windows update but ie update that missing.

Hey, smorizio thanks for the reply. Where is the Windows update folder located under? And how is Windows Update labeled as in the processes tab? :)
