Hello everybody,

Hardware & Software

    Integral USB Card Reader
    Sandisk 64GB 'Ultra SD Card
    Windows 8.1

I recently moved a few files from my computer to the above SD card as I needed to move a few files around. This was a good card with no previous experience of it getting errors. A few of the files that I transferred onto it were quite large (2.5GB) maximum.

About 75% of the way through a file transfer onto the SD card I received an error, which I do not remember very well. It may have come as a result of moving such a large file onto it - though I find it strange that a card like this couldn't cope with a 2.5GB file...

After this error I would get the following error from Windows whenever I plugged in the drive:

There's a problem with this drive. Scan the drive now and fix it.

The SD Card does show up on the 'This PC' page and it can be accessed however I can no longer make any changes to the files and nor can I move them to another location. If I try to move the files, it starts to copy for a few seconds at a decent speed and then halfway through it just stops and I can no longer access the card until I unplug it and put it back in.

I would greatly appreciate any help on this matter as I desperately need the files on the device! :(

Like Windows tells you, scan the card to find and (hopefully) let it fix any errors.
If it still doesn't work properly after doing that, throw the card away and buy a new one.
Due to the way the cards are made, they can fail without any advance warning.

I tried to use that but the issue I am facing is that when I plug the SD Card reader into my PC this happens:

1) It appears as normal on 'My PC' and I can see space used, space left as well as the name of the files. As soon as I (or other software) interact with the files inside I can no longer access anything - when I click stuff, it says 'Invalid Function' and when I now go onto 'My PC' the card is listed as exFat and cannot be opened.

2) As a result of that, the software you recommended sees the SD Card initially but as soon as I set it to scan it the program stops responding.

Thank you for your post, any further help would be greatly appreciated!
