Hi Forums,

Good day! I would like to ask if I can upgrade my APU from A8 to A10? My laptop is ASUS X550DP the A8 model weeks after they release an A10 version of it. As I research through the socket of my current A8 model is FP2 and I want to put a A10-5757M (which also a FP2 socket) would that be possible? And where can I buy that processor?

Well upgrading it wont help. Your laptop has dedicated gpu which is more important for gaming
This is what i found about your GPU -> http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-8550G-HD-8670M-Dual-Graphics.101104.0.html
scroll down to see what fps you would get in some games. That should give you idea of your laptop capability.
Now im not that big expert in APU but I dont think you will get much better gaming performance with the A10 (just my oppinion)
As for compatibility its most safe to ask Asus techs, as i see they both have same power use which is a +

I cant tell you where you can buy that APU as buying laptop parts is never easy... however these 2 links will show you all the specs of both APU you mentioned
A8 - http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-A-Series-A8-5550M-Notebook-Processor.89639.0.html
A10 - http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-A-Series-A10-5757M-Notebook-Processor.92900.0.html
Also as stated here - http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/84/AMD_A10-Series_for_Notebooks_A10-5757M_vs_AMD_A8-Series_for_Notebooks_A8-5550M.html you can compare them both... I personally dont see much point in replacing your A8 unless it has issues

If I use A10-5750M instead, would be compatible with the board of my laptop? The main reason why I would like to upgrade is to do some games.

Hello
I myself have a laptop thay is running the same A8 as yours. tho my laptop is a lenovo e545 I can upgrade my apu to the A10-5750m
Seeing as the "dedicated gpu" is actually integrated in an apu processor, yes. You can upgrade. The integrated gpu in the A8 is the Radeon HD 8550G
Where is the gpu in the A10 is the Radeon HD 8650G
The performance is higher but not by much, it may be what you are looking for but it's the best apu you can pop in for that chipset
