Hi, I currently have 500gb ssd and I need to get debian running. I don't dont what to choose between simply running it in virtualbox, creating a new partition on ssd or buy hdd and run it on hdd dualboot/virtualbox. What do you think is the best? I read somewhere that partitionning ssd is not good so I guess dualboot on ssd is not simething I should do. Also, creating a virtual machine on my ssd with enough space for linux will create a large file and I don't know if that's good for my ssd either... Help me please!!

Solution
Depends on what you are using it for.
Do want to run only one at a time (dualbot), or both OS's at the same time (VM).

A VM on an SSD is NO problem. I do it.
Just try it with VirtualBox first. See how it goes.

Yeah I currently have a virtualbox vm running on my ssd, and if it's not problem I will do that for sure because it's less trouble. Just wanted to make sure large files are not degrading my performances. Thanks

This is my system from a while ago:
From L-R
LinuxMint(VM), Server 2012(VM), Win 8.1(Host), WinXP(VM). At least one of those lives on an SSD, I forget which.
