I just purchased an ASUS x55 1mav...win 8.1, celeron 2.1
won't stay connected to wifi for more than 30sec to a min.....then reconnnects after about 30 sec
and does the same thing all over again....then keeps repeating. I am convinced that win8, the asus software, and the wireless card are not communicating correctly...this morning I tried an external wifi adapter stick for an hour...worked great...less bars (signal not as strong)...but stable connection so far. Why won't the internal one ever work correctly? Oh, I've tried 2 different wifi servces...local hotspot cable company and my apt free wifi....I never had this problem with win 7 or xp on my old computer
I have done all of the following:
device mgr..all working
device mgr..update drivers search in computer (says it's the latest)
internet connection....disable/enable, connect/disconnect/connect
make sure to select performance over power everywhere
make sure to uncheck...turn off internet
set for connect automatically and connect even if ssid not showing
ran troubleshooter and diagnostics several time
in adm box: netsh and then reset for winsock, ipconfig, ipv4, ip6
made sure proxy was not checked
then checked to make sure it was connecting and sending and receiving
I'm lost as to what else to try...please help...
ASUS....told me to uninstall and re-install drivers..if I do that in the device manager.....will it remove it from the list or stay there and allow me to re-install?....is this the same as updating the drivers by letting it search on the internet which I already did for most devices? they also said to update the bios...there are 16 updates on the asus site...how do I know if any of them are the ones I download?
This is my first new notebook...i never expected this would be so difficult....tweaking used ones was so much easier
