So I have been stuck for a day on PCPARTPICKER trying to get all the parts needed for her to build her own gaming pc. Let me be the first to say this is a whole new world for me.

We got her a Alienware 15x something in 2011 which as I'm aware is junk in 2015. She never used it outside the home so I don't want to limit her or the computer with parts and size

She is 14 and her friend just built his and I have to say I was really impressed. He spent somewhere in the 700-800 dollar range. His computer had 2 screens and loaded faster then anything our 2014 macs do.

Now shes a good kid and if I am being honest its considered a high dollar build? Im looking at around 2k as a budget for everything don't know if that counts as a high build or not it does according to youtube...?

now parts I'm looking at ( according to youtube/forums )

Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor

orsair H100i GTX 70.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

MSI Z97-GAMING 7 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

G.Skill Ripjaws Z Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory

Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

2 MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card (2-Way SLI)

XFX P1-750B-BEFX

Now quite a few questions.

Is the i7 the best? Will it work with future games ( I don't even know tittles to list ) but higher demanding games in best visual settings?

Is the SSD 250 enough or should it be 500GB?

Is the set up listed able to have future upgrades?

Is 32GB of ram enough?

If she saves live stream videos is 3TB enough? Shes half way full on 1TB external?

Over all am I missing anything? More fans? water cooling rig? etc?

Sorry I dont know enough to even be dangerous at this point any help would be great...

That i7 is the best for that platform, there is the x99 platform with the 5820k, 5930k, and 5960x, but those have not alot of benefit for gaming, the 5820k is about $60 more and look to spend at least $50 more on ram per 8gb from ddr3, and prob the same on the motherboard. It has two more cores and 4 more threads than the 4790k. The 4790k will be more than enough, so thats good. The 4790k is more than enough for current games HT is barely utilized in some, and the gpu is the only thing that will drive the graphics with a cpu like that i7.

250gb on the ssd is the sweet spot for pricing, and will hold the OS, and at least one or two AAA games like battlefield as its like 50gb. 500gb is nice, but not necessary. a 3tb hdd is prob enough to...

32gb ram is a little much, id say go for 16gb.

Per the fans and cooling etc, u did not mention a case, which would help and is really nice lol but not needed. I personally like the Enermax liqtech 240 for the price and performance. Mostly because the h100 series is over used and i like to be different, its a good cooler. the enermax is built well and very solid, and is a very solid unit, but what u have is great.

Upgrade wise, the main thing would be ram as ddr4 is out and eventually becoming the standard starting with the skylake cpus from intel on the mainstream platform, but ddr3 isnt going anywhere soon. The main upgrade the system would need would be the gpus later on. Hard drives and ssds are only going to get cheaper and bigger in capacity

I dont have a box picked out. I am unsure of going with a mid sized or full sized and which one will come with enough air vents incase she wants to overclock stuff? So you think the CPU should be better? And less ram?

If there is no overclocking done, then there's no need for a liquid cooling system. A decently priced air cooler will work just fine. Also, an i7 won't offer much better performance than an i5 in terms of gaming. Also, 32GB of RAM is way overkill. 16GB will be enough for her to game, stream, and have several other apps open in the background at the same time. A 3TB hard drive should be enough for now.
In fact, you don't even need two GTX 970's in SLI. One GTX 980 will be enough to completely max out games for several years to come.

That's a really powerful build

The CPU is good, 16gb of ram should be enough. You can buy a 2x8gb kit and upgrade it at a later date with another 2x8gb kit if you really feel the need

You can go with a mid-tower and you shouldn't be crammed for space. I've heard a lot of great things about the Define R5

What resolution will she be playing at? And how many screens?

I agree with him. But if you wanna spend that money, you can. An i5 with a gtx 970 or 980 and 8 or 16gb of ram would be really good

not to throw a wrench into this but there is a amd 8 core 4ghz that seems to be quite popular. I guess just wondering if its better then the i7 since its same ghz and 4 more cores? Again seems too good to be true?

The i7 has "stronger" cores. So the i7 is better

Don't go for AMD at your price level. Most games won't use more than 4 cores, so an 8 core CPU won't be fully utilized. Also, a 4GHz Intel CPU can do more than a 4GHz AMD CPU. Intel is designed to to stuff more efficiently, but at a higher price than AMD. With your budget, you can afford the higher class Intel CPUs.
Your i7 will always beat any AMD processor by a decent margin.
