I started using windirstat to find where all my disk space was going, and came across a few files under C:\$Recycle.Bin that are taking up 32.8 GB. They all start with names like "S-1-5-18" and are dated between the time I bought my computer (2013) and 2 months after that. WinDirStat labels them as video files. They have odd names (a random collection of characters) but the folders contain a mix of file types I know i have used before. Are they safe to delete?

Hi. you should have no problem deleting them, but to make sure go to Control panel - Administrative tools - Disk clean up. Double click disk cleanup and it will tell you what files you can safely delete. In the list is recycle bin with(hopefully) the files you have found

Thanks for the reply, I discovered today that the "weird files" in C:\$Recycle.Bin were actually the files in the recycle bin of another user on my system. For some reason, even though I am an admin, it wouldn't let me view the file names, only cryptic labels.
