good day every one,

The thing is, currently my alevel exams are going on( that accountng p4 was hard!) and i didnt have a graphics card to play games in the coming month when im free so i am considering these. please advise.

1/ 670 Asus OC edition. My friend has it and he is giving it to me for $190
2/ r9 280x 3 gb $250
3/ 770 OC asus $240

Which one should I buy. I know must of you will say 970 but its out of my budget.

Btw my resolution is 1024x768 i love my old monitor, but i may buy a big one in future.

my specs are:
i5 3570 non k
6 gig ram corsair dominator
gx 550 psu
asus p8z77 vlx mobo

A GTX 770 is perfectly suitable for a 1920x1080 monitor; I have both.

OP, based on your PSU the most suitable GPU is the GTX 670. The TDP of the 770 and 280X is 230W and 250W respectively, which is almost half of your PSU's +12V wattage. Granted, the GPU is unlikely to be operating at full power whilst gaming, so the TDP will be lower, but it's still something you should consider.

If you fail to accommodate the TDP then your computer may start to crash.

thanks for the responses. so the question is now whether to get Asus dc2 oc 670 or Asus dc2 oc 770. So guys, how much difference in performance there is bw these to cards. I am short on cash, so am really considering the 670 since it is also got lower power draw.

The best way to check the performance is to look at benchmarks for the games you play (and want to play). Synthetic benchmarks in FurMark, Valley, etc. aren't reflective of gaming performance, so you shouldn't rely on them.

If you're on a strict budget then I'd go for the GTX 670, but negotiate a better price first. I found the exact card you're looking for on eBay for $160 (assuming USD).
