Hi All.
In a nutshell. ..we have Plusnet Fibre and their standard router. With a couple of plug in range extenders we get good coverage. But when the kids have finished homework etc and the tablets come out....poof....the ability for me or the Mrs to even look at anything with a phone or laptop mysteriously disappears...they seem to literally suck it all up..!!
I'm guessing the router just can't through put enough traffic and it needs a more specific piece of equipment to handle all the connections?
If so any help or buying advice would be welcome. Many thanks Phil

Range extenders can actually harm throughput; they need to first transmit the data from your router to the extender, then from the extender to the device.

Generally, anything that can be connected by Ethernet should be. Powerline is acceptable. If you can get their laptops hardwired, that should take a lot of the load off.

Given you're in the UK, your router should be set to either channel 1, 5, 9, or 13. Being on the same channel as others around you can lead to congestion.
