Hello everyone

Now that alot of new games like witcher 3 etc. come up, I would like to upgrade my Pc. My Budget is around 500 Dollars and I'd like to maybe upgrade in the future.

Key Components:

Mobo: 1150 socket.
Cpu: i5 4590
Gpu: Saphire r9 280x
Ram: 1330 Mhz, 8gb
Psu: 450w, 80+ Gold.

Can anyone reccomend me some good upgrades that will keep me gaming for some time? ;)
I thought of getting an i7 4790, is that a good idea?

Looks like you have a good quality psu so you should be very fine especially since you have a intel cpu and no cooler(amd's are much higher wattage).
if you look at any benchmarks, you will see maybe 2-5 fps gains in most games with an i7. Not worth the extra $100 and a waste of money if you're only gaming. I5s are enough for todays games and with dx12, your gpu and cpu will be even more powerful later on.

If you did go for a gtx 970, it will be able to run on a high quality psu like yours and is an amazing gpu. Upgrade your psu only if you upgrade add sli. Not to mention it uses less power than your current gpu

if you do get a gtx 970 or higher they have a promo ends in two weeks: you can get witcher 3 + arkham knight (both)

First is a bigger PS range 750 watt to 1000 watt Gold 80+ (I like the PS to have head room)
Assuming the 8GB is 2 x 4GB ;
Options;

OC the R9 280X
OC the mem to 1600 or upgrade to 1600

or
Add a R9 280X
OC the mem to 1600 or upgrade to 1600

Here are some good reads that cover 280 in crossfire one adds the 285 to the comparison
R9 290X and GTX 780 are there as well as power usage. A these show an OC 280 and 280 crossfire are great the 280X in crossfire would be great out of the box non OCed.

Wow! Thanks so much for the quick answers. I'll probably get the 970. Do you know if that promo is also available in switzerland?
I also wonder if i should upgrade my ram to 1600 Mhz. But Google researched mostly told me it was fine. One last question. if i get the 970, should i get a non stock cooler or a liquid cooler?

if you use amazon, then definitely. It will tell you when searching for it in amazon, like it did to me.
the promo is with these retailers so if your country has it, then yes:

ram mhz doesn't make a difference in gaming unless you are an EXTREME overclocker or graphics designer:

don't buy the stock version for any gpu's as non-stock coolers always say they are better. The msi gaming edition or gigabyte g1 or said to be the top dogs for gtx 970's. liquid cooling a gtx 970 is not needed since it runs VERY quiet and efficiently at stock speeds and very low temps
