help cant find a descent power supply expect this corsair HX 850watt

hello

i got my build one month ago still keeping it in the box cause i didn't find a descent power supply i looked desperately

everywhere in my area until i found this corsair HX 850watt i dont know if it is gold or silver but i think both are good ,my question is it compatible with my build

my build

core i7 5820k

16gb ddr4

couldn't find a gtx 960 so i got gtx 970 strix

board x99-A asus

plz help

Why wouldn't it be? But it is really overkill though, I would have gone with a 750w at the most for your system. Any good quality 500W supply or greater is compatible with your build.
If the power supply is not "Haswell Certified", disable the C6 and C7 sleep states in the BIOS. You really don't need these anyway in a desktop computer.

The Corsair HX 850 is a good quality supply, and it supports the Haswell sleep states:

I would suggest the EVGA Supernova G2 750 if it is available in your area.

The HX series is a great series. I'm guessing that you're going to run multiple GPUs considering you want a higher wattage unit. As others have suggested, you could get a lower wattage unit for a single GPU.
