Solution Phillip Corcoran May 12, 2015 The 8400 is not "PCIe based". It's got both types of slots. Adapter not required. According to the user manual the 8400 has got 3 x PCI slots. plus 2 x PCIe slots: http://downloads.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_dimension_desktops/dimension-8400_Owner%27s%20Manual_en-us.pdf
