I'm planning to buy a gaming/video editing PC for around 900-1000 USD + the cost of the monitor. I did some research and I think that the following configuration would be great, though I'm not sure if this is the best config for the price.
CPU: i5-4690K
GPU: EVGA Geforce GTX 970 4GB SSC ACX 2.0 or XFX Radeon R9 290X 4GB Double Dissipation
RAM: 8GB RAM (DDR3 1600/1866 is the most likely)
Motherboard: Asus Z97-A ATX LGA1150
Storage: 256 GB SSD and a 500GB-1TB HDD
I was also thinking about the AMD FX-9370 CPU since it's really powerful and costs about the same as the other ones, but I heard that Intel CPUs are better for gaming. Also I can't decide which GPU would be better. I still have to choose a case and a power supply, but that's not a big deal.
What do you think? Is this a great config? If yes, then which GPU should I go with? Is it worth waiting for the the Radeon R9 300 series? I will be buying the parts around August, so I can wait until then.
