Hello, i want to buy a cpu, motherboard and ram, so my first plan was buying a g3258 cpu(or g3220) and asrock z97 anniversary (a very good mobo for those cpus), but i saw a i3 and i though to buy the i3 4160 and a cheaper mobo ( ASUS H81M-K), but what do you think? Buy a g3258(or g3220) and the z97 or the other.
I am asking because i saw that more expensive mobos have much better construction quality and the socket can be a bit better?

Solution

Get a decent MOBO and a better cpu. A good cpu will do better, but a crappy MOBO can ruin your good cpu.

What's your budget? Maybe I can help you out? Are you in the USA?

About 270 euros and i am in greece :(

Decent motherboard and best cpu in your budget.

After you reach a minimum level of quality the motherboard will do nothing to help your system performance.
Better boards have features or ports that enthusiasts need.

What you really should do is build for what you think you will need in a couple years, even if it means saving an extra month.
If there is nothing in that z97 board (like overclock or number of sata ports or crossfire/sli support then get the h81. If you feel that you will need that then it will be much cheaper to just save the cost difference and get the z97 and i3 now, instead of buying a part to replace it in a short amount of time.
