Does the PD 820 have a onboard sensor because hwmonitor or coretemp will not show a temp, the intel data sheet shows the processor has tcontrol and the thermtrip signal, so i am guessing there is a sensor? This is just an old computer that im a practicing oc'ing so any tips on that will also be helpful, i dont want to overclock it without knowing the temps. the cooler is a dell stock with 6 heatpipes and a 120 mm fan.

When I first started overclocking 2 years ago, I was messing around with a D 840 Pentium and also had this same problem. From my research, I guess the temp sensor (if any) doesn't work with newer software. Idk if there even is a temp sensor.

I overclocked my Pentium to 4Ghz at around 1.45vcore blindly. And it didn't melt lol.

I will try real temp next, or an older version of hw:)monitor, or I can use the old fashioned way, put a thermal couple on the heatsink close to the socket, or I could just wait for the pop, that is usually a good indication that you have gone too far!!
