Hi Everyone,

I have created a Local Account and assigned it Administrator rights. However whenever I go to change sensitive files I am presented with an 'Access Denied' message, here is an example of the message that I receive when attempting to add a host to Hosts.ini -

In addition to the account being set to Administrator (type) I have also made the group 'Administrators' the owners of the 'etc' folder, and assigned full control to this group!

Even with the above settings I am still unable to change the host entries in Hosts.ini!

If anybody knows how I can give myself the required access can you please share?

Kind Regards,

Davo

Solution
Right click on notepad and choose run as administrator, then open the hosts file. Then you will be able to save it. Opening it in the admin account won't work.
