so I will be swapping internet from rogers (Canada) to teksavvy by the end of this billing month (22nd) . we currently have 3 PCs in the house. 1 upstairs which is wired to modem directly, and 2 downstairs which use wifi. our current router is outdated and I would like to upgrade that as well. What would be a good router that would offer decent speeds, compatibility with teksavvy modem and most importantly a stable connection. the teksavvy modem is "Technicolor DCM476 DOCSIS 3" stated on their webpage.

Pretty much all routers will work ok with your modem as long as it uses a ethernet port for its wan. I would try your current router first if it is not DSL or something that does not have a ethernet wan port.

Your largest issue is that many of the newest and fanciest routers have things like 802.11ac on them. This and other feature do you little good if you have pc equipment that can only run 802.11n or if it can only run on the 2.4g band. You may need to consider upgrades to both the router and the nic cards if you really want to use the abilities of the newest equipment.

It also depends on how much speed you are really going to get from the ISP. Most times you are going to be bottlenecked by the ISP speed connection before...

I would still try your current router first if it can be connected to a cable modem at least you would then have a point to compare to if you were to buy something new.
