Do I NEED a bigger power supply for a r9 290 tri-x?

Hello there, I have a computer currently built (from a while back). It's specs are
-i3 550 @3.20GHz
-4GB PNY DDR3 RAM
-160GB HDD
-1TB HDD
-ASUS P7H55-M LE Motherboard
-450W PSU
-XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770 GPU

Since I want a Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X replacing the HD 5770,
will I need more power?

I have checked with multiple sites online and they seem to think my PSU is good as it is. But looking at some other people talking about reccomended 600W PSU may seem to change my thought on if it is really possible. So, is this possible? Or will I get an issue if trying to just use my computer to play games on whatever settings? Thanks.

absolutely terrible idea... your cpu is an entry level part and your looking to pair it with an enthusiast grade gpu...
end result is a lot of games will just choke and you wont get the performance gains from the gpu.
a good gaming pc is a balance gaming pc and yours will be very gpu heavy.

as for the psu any good 600w unit will do the job.

I saw some people using the same sort of specs and getting some nice frames in BF4, so no, its not a terrible idea other than the PSU. Right now my PC can't run BF4 without having a unstoppable stutter. I guess tradesman is right. I will need an upgrade.
CPU is great. People have been running it with newer cards and don't get bottle-necked that badly. Hey, its better than sticking with my 5770.
Plus I never asked if it was a good build altogether, although I do appreciate the fact that you want to tell me that I need a new CPU. It was a little obvious.

your cpu and psu needs and upgrade. and also add another 4GB of RAM to make your system runs better. i'm using Pentium G3258 and HyperX Fury 8GB. Planning to get the R9 290 as well.

Just PSU. The CPU has been running really well for people who have been using it for 5+ years and doesn't bottleneck that badly. That wasn't even my question, but yeah, I will be upgrading the entire thing.

550W is first on the list, obviously, and I'd rather get my 290 than stick with this 5770. Its dying badly. 100 degrees celcius at full load, 70 at idle.

4GB runs fine and if it wasn't for my crap motherboard, I would've slapped a 16GB on there. Well, I did build this PC somewhat on budget. It was a beast back then

EDIT: AMD master race! You should get the 290 too!
