The cpu might work in the motherboard... but it might not run full speed. If the motherboard only supports up to 800 fsb then the T9600 will only run at 800 fsb... provided that the motherboard is compatible with the cpu and has the microcode for it.

If this motherboard does support higher fsb then this processor should work no problem... The problem is it would be hard to find out. You need to know exactly what the motherboards max fsb clock is.

So since this laptop wasn't meant to have its cpu switched out it would be incredibly difficult to find out what the highest fsb clock is supported... It's all pretty much a guessing game from here... the new cpu might work and might not work... if it works it might work at a slower clocked...

This laptop is based on the Santa Rosa platform and by the presence of X3100 I am assuming it is built on GM965 chipset. In short, no it does not support Penryn processors with 1066MHz FSB. The actual processor might work, but a) machine's BIOS must know about the model and b) it's going to be locked at 800MHz FSB with whatever multiplier it has set for the model. I.e. a T9600 would work at 2.1GHz only.
