HI, all I've been ask to build a pc for one of my family members as a general purpose machine.
I would like to know what parts you would pick for this machine. I would like at least a Intel i5 3.0 and maybe 8 gigs of ram and a motherboard that can be upgraded if needed. no monitor needed

I would like to thank you beforehand for taking the time to read this post,

Many Thanks Vampire.

general purpose machine (not gaming intensive):
cpu:i3 4160
mb: asrock h97 pro 4
ram: any ddr3 2x4 gig ram , suggest 1600mhz, gskill/corsair/crucial -whatever is on sale
case:corsair 200, nzxt source 210 - personal aesthetics choice
psu- brands: seasonic, superflower, xfx, evga, rosewill (capstone), i usually go 500-550 as a minimum to allow any random expansion needs
ssd: 120 or 240gb ssd drive, i perfer samsungs out of experience, but i've also had good luck with intel, sandisk, adata
main drive: 1TB 7200 rpm hard drive (WD caviar blue , or if you prefer a seagate barracuda- i avoid the seagates after a few short-lived drives)

video card: optional - can get something like a nvidia 750, 750ti, or r7250x for entry to moderate level gaming

keyboard - amazon essentials combo works great for my budget systems, or the pairings from MS or logitech

Do you think the Intel Core i3-4150 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor is a bit low ?

For playing games, somewhat. But if you're just browsing the web, watching movies, listening to music, etc. it should be fine. An i5 will probably be snappier, though

Edit: Out of curiosity, why do you need a new PC if you have a gaming rig?

that works, suggested a corsair 200r, but if you have one ready, go with it. the nzxt case is good, as is the source 210, some of the enermax cases are great for the price as well.

If this is seriously just for web and utility, the i3 is fine, you can even do light/moderate gaming with it, or upgrade down the road to something beefier like an i5, it's just a little cost overkill - with what looks like at LEAST 54 euros to go up to an i5 chip.
