i am willing to use my pc mainly for gaming and maybe watching some movies . so wish one would be better for both
BenQ XL2411Z
or
Samsung LS27D590PS

Also note that i have been the last 5 years on a laptop with low resolution so both monitors would be an upgrade

IPS (and samsung PLS) have better colors than TN but the benQ you have listed is definitely better for fast pace fps gaming. I personally really like IPS and unless you are a competitive gamer you will be fine with a slower IPS display. Although I am not a big fan of 27" 1080p, I feel at that point the screen is too big for that resolution and it's a good idea to jump to 1440p. At 1080p I recommend staying around 21"-23" monitor.

So really depends what is more important to you, eye candy or smoothness.

IPS has cripier pixel density against tns. The only tns are better is on the refresh rates but if youre, again a competitive player who plays bf 4 a lot youre better off with the tns.

That's more of a trick question. You will find out many monitors on both are like 8-bit. aka banding colors. I IPS can, however, be more than just a 8-bit monitor. Dell U2410, for example, is a 12-bit monitor. About as perfect to color perfection as you can get.
