Hi, my comp. is:

CPU: FX-8350
MB: GA-990FXA-UD5
RAM: Patriot 2x2GB, 2x4 Patriot 1600MHz
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit

I had AMD Phenom X6 1055T and all 12GB usable in windows. Now I buy FX-8350 and in Control Panel > System
Installed memory (RAM): 10.00 GB (7.98 GB usable)
In CPU-Z show 12GB Dual

I changed Ram-s in slots and always is the same problem.

When i change in Bios to 1333MHz I get 4-5GB usable, when i set auto ram is 1600MHz and I get 7.98GB.

I don't know what is the problem and how to set all 12GB usable?

I already updated bios on latest version when i had 1055T cpu...

Maybe if I have 1866MHz ram i have all usable memory. But I can't overclock, my ram is 1600MHz.

That is odd... I've seen this before but I've always solved it by updating the bios or reseating the ram into different slots...

But I think I know whats wrong... you have two sticks of ram that are 2gb and two stick that are 4gb... if they are in dual channel mode that could creat issues if the channels are not balanced.

First try making sure that the first channel has a 2gig and a 4gig stick and match it the same way for the second channel. For example so slot one has 2gb, slot 2 has 4gb, slot 3has 2gb, and slot 4 has 4gb...

If that doesn't work you can try changing the ram mode around between ganged and unganged and see if that makes a difference. Also make sure your timings and frequency settings are set to kingstons spec.

Yes, i try changing 4242 and 2424 but don't help. But when I had Phenom X6 1055T all ram works 12GB. When i change to FX- 8350 I have this problem...
Also try ganged and unganged not helped...

hmm maybe its the cpu itself... either it doesn't have support for mixing different size sticks or something is wrong with the one you got... The memory controller is inside the cpu itself after all...

Try contacting amd support... maybe get a replacement cpu... or maybe buy a 16gb matched dual channel kit and sell the current ram you have on ebay?
